Justice in Our Land ?
"The realisation of Justice for Indigenous Peoples
in this country is indeed justice in our land.
The two as I see it are inter-dependent and mutually connected and
not mutually exclusive. It is like having a bill of rights for all Australians and yet Indigenous Peoples having
no rights, when whole communities of the human family have no justice, have no rights.
It is not justice nor is it
equality.
It is just another tool of oppression. The justice I envisage is a human one firstly, (idealistic
perhaps) requiring respect, recognition etc etc.
The justice I refer is one which requires all of us working
together without which none of us can reach our human potential neither individually or collectively. If indeed
one looks at the situation in this country how our Peoples are being treated and it leaves a bitter taste in ones mouth then
you understand what justice in our land is.
Justice cannot exist in a vacuum, and neither is it shaded.
It
is in fact (no pun intended) black and white.
If it does not apply equally to a one as to the other, then it
does not exist. It is simply a perception an optical illusion and little else to those it is denied. "

is my name given me by People of my community. Kubirri is the clan our Family being TO's/Custodians of and connected to the
mossman gorge country and Ku Ku Yalangi identifies us as speaking the language of that place."
